I also designed my cranking rod using the old mojo they used to have. I’m building a new series now and it’s based off of that rod

Most spinning reels are pretty slow. It’s hard to find anything that takes up more line than 6:1:1 I honestly never really put much thought into it with spinning reels. A good reel will have what you need.
