It’s really hard as I started fishing national tournaments to do this. I have to get really creative now. That’s why I fish for other species. It introduces me to other people and different ways of thinking. The biggest grab is learning a new way to look at things. I have a few friends that I can compare findings with. You’d be surprised how little most competitors actually fish. Competition is mostly mental so I’ve found the most value in other sports. Helping my son with motocross has been a eye opener as well. There’s resources and value literally all around us and what I’ve found is it’s often found in a non fishing environment.

Hey will! You may be one of the only college guys here. I’m excited to have you here man. How has your season been so far. Tell me where you go next! When you have a tournament be sure to reach out so we can talk about it. If I’ve been there I’d be happy to share what I’ve experienced about the lake

So I hated the idea of it until I realized what it’s all about. To be honest it doesn’t really make any practical sense from a competitive standpoint. It’s a commodity type deal. It’s supposed to be fun. It’s for people tha live on lakes that suck and have small fish but looking for a way to enjoy those lakes in a new way. The best analogy i can think of is those 3 wheel Can Am deal tha people drive around. It’s really unnecessary but it’s fun for someone to drive around and let the wind blow through their hair in the summer for 45 mins or so. That’s BFS. It’s not necessary but it’s fun and different.

I use a jogging spoon a lot but they won’t hit those here for some reason. It’s a big deal up north.

I like to cast up stream and let the current carry my bait. I call that “washing”. Let the bait wash into the target zone
