Got out Sat, Sun, and Mon. Went to a different lake on Sat and Mon, and went to my home lake on Sun. My home lake this year, the bite has been way off. I'm assuming the lake is just extremely pressured. Even the stuff thats supposed to "work" on pressured fish isn't working lol. Talking with some of the other regulars there, they're saying the same thing. Even the crappie guys aren't catching anything. For comparisons sake, at the "new" lake, I caught 14 between Sat and Mon. At my home lake, caught 2 after being out there for about 8 hours.

It was cute to watch. I was tying on another wacky jig, and I watched her look at the water, and she started talking quietly to herself like I do lol. Finally I heard her say "I think there's a fish there..." and she casted out her wacky jig.... didn't take long as the fish was right there and grabbed it. She set the hook, and started celebrating when it was at the boat. I said "It ain't yours yet..." and I netted it in lol. But yeah, sure was fun to watch her process, and the reaction when she went into hookset mode.

Can't wait for the rest of this. My home lake has a lot of grass, but its heavily fished. The one I've been going to doesn't have as much grass and more laydowns and submerged timber. But going to play around with either my swimbait or the chatterbait using the technique you were doing. But again, can't wait for the rest of this series. I'm with you, they all don't go deep in the summer.

Lets do it. I'll give it a shot. I normally have 5 rods ready to go; 1 with a topwater and it never changes, 1 with Texas Rig, 1 with a Swimbait, then my 2 BFS rods which have wacky and ned rigs on them. The lakes I fish, finesse seems to get the bites, so most of the time I end up using my workhorse BFS rod with a wacky rig. But, can definitely try this challenge out and see what happens!

My daughter and I went to Oak Hollow this evening for some night fishing. Like the other lakes in the Deep River basin, nothing biting tonight. NC Wildlife really needs to tend to their fisheries better. Wish they'd do what Texas is doing to insure bigger bass and bigger numbers of bass. They take care of the streams... wish they'd do the same for their lakes.

Thanks!! Its been a labor of love. Yes, thats the one I posted last week. She takes care of me on the water. Basically a 16ft rigged out Coleman Scanoe. Built like a tank and can go where the kayaks go, but gives me enough space like I was on a jon boat. Outriggers provide phenomenal stability. It's electric, powered by a 55 pound MinnKota Endura Max. One of these days when I have 2000$ burining a hole in my pocket, I plan on changing it to a battery powered Newport Outboard motor, then swapping the trolling motor with a front mount if I can get it to mount nicely on that setup.

I know what you mean. I still struggle with making changes when I should. But sure is nice when you make a change and it works. For me its mainly colors and weights, or swapping a spinner for a swimbait or vice versa.

Haha! Not too bad... The floor of my boat though, pretty slimy after I let him go.

BFS was my only solution to get around spinning gear. I know, spinning gear has its place but once I got into baitcasters I had to see how light I could go. I then went down the rabbit hole of Japanese fishing techniques and how some of them use Bait Finesse. I like that I have the accuracy of a baitcaster with something somewhat light. Granted, I could go as light as 1/32 with one of my setups, but I never go that light. I stay right around 1/16th most of the time. I use heavier line to put up with the bass fights. My 11 year old loves her BFS setup and is pretty good with it. As far as the kind of lakes I fish, mostly the water treatment reservoirs that are within 15 - 30 minutes from me. I have about 9 of them to pick from on the weekends.
