How do you retrieve your frog when dragging on vegetation? Do yoy pause to illicit a strike, or one smooth motion?

Forgot the code, but was having too much fun with the finesse. Neko rig was the only really effective way yesterday

I feel like if I explain the context, it will be better to understand what I am asking.

I broke down a lake before my league night. I had never fished it before and I rigged everything for what I expected to be and felt confident in the night before. As it turned out I was correct on gaging what I needed. However, I felt a little overwhelmed with how I was fishing. I really felt like I wasn’t “downloading” the information as effectively or efficiently as I could. As the week went by, I felt like I needed to start with a baseline to gauge what I would need to correct. Return speed, depth and plotting my points of attack.

So my question is do you all have a plan/baseline when you’re fishing? What does something like that look like. What are the things that are most important to you, that start out with that stay consistent and adjust over the period of time?

Obviously technique will dictate a lot.

Excited to start my first kayak league tomorrow. I’ve gone over all the rules and it’s more or less time lines and how to CPR your fish. So I don’t make an a$$ out of myself, what are some of the unwritten rules to go by. For example, I don’t know how much distance I should give my fellow anglers before it starts to be an issue. What are other things I should know about?

I have a lot of pond weed in one of my lakes that have plenty of LMBs stocked. I’m new to pitching and I’m not too confident on gaging the drop rate. Would a 1 ounce bullet weight be too much to start with?

How many of you guys use a checklist to prep before you actually hit the water? It was my second day on my kayak and I am still forgetting things I need to do. It sent my mood in the dumps, spending more time adjusting rather than fishing.

When we’re talking about clear water, what exactly are you referring to? Clear by visibility or clear by clear of algae or other contaminants? Are we referring to what we see, or what the fish would see? Would we consider a lake that has less then 5 feet of visibility to be clear or stained? Also, I’m not trying to be a wise a**, I live in the central midwest and have never fished what I would consider a clear lake before.
