3 myths about cold water cranking

- throw red when the water is cold.
☑️ never limit red to cold water. Bass feed on shad forage ALL YEAR LONG. Bass feed on crawfish ALL YEAR LONG

- in cold water throw a tight wiggling crankbait
☑️ that’s not completely true. If the water is cold and especially if it’s muddy try a crankbait with a lot of noise and action to get the bass’s attention. If you can’t get his attention you won’t get the bite.

- in cold water you need to throw a deeper diving crankbait
☑️ That’s not completely true. The further we move into winter the more bass (especially largemouth) use shallow water for ambient warmth from the longer days and sunshine. There’s a significant amount of fish that will move into the 1-3 foot zone as the water temps stabilize in the low 40s at the end of winter.
