Pond Fishing: If your drag isn’t set correct and you stop reeling you will lose fish. Had two hooked fish, landed one on the Buzzbait. Both were in a 1-2 ft of water. I was casting to the opposite bank in the stickerbushes drug it into the water and across got five bites that way.

This is the biggest crawdad I’ve ever seen in our lakes.

This week I’m fishing with Ray Brunetti in the SUF elite angler development academy. Reach out to brian@sufschool.com if you’d like to book a class. I have 1 more available in 2025.

One and only one. I've been on the struggle bus 2nd half of the summer and into the fall. But yesterday, for one and only one cast, everything lined up exactly as it should, exactly as I've seen on the videos and put into practice. 1) Using the FFS video, helped me realize when and where was the right place to cast. 2) The Albright Knot video, this allowed me to switch to lighter line and leader without losing my tackle. 3) How to Fight Fish video, I used my drag like a champ and fought a nice 3+ lb fish on light line, staying in control the entire way. In fact, to B-Lat's point in the video, once I got the fish in the net the hook just fell out. If I hadn't used my drag I might've lost the fish. Instead, the fish wore itself out and just came to the surface so I could scoop it with my net. I couldn't replicate this success at all the rest of the day, but for this one cast, I really felt like I was applying everything I'm learning here.

Brian Latimer ,

With the in person 2025 tounament season is wrapped up, I wanted to take a moment to say thank you!!😃

This year was a massive learning experience. I fished the full BFL Northeast Division, qualified for and fished the James River Regional, and finished 18th in Northeast BFL AOY standings, 3rd in AOY in my local Greylock Bass Club. Those results felt great, but honestly, the real win was all the learning to understand what it actually takes to compete at this level - it is a lot to just make your first cast - your guidance through SUF School has been critical in my growth as an angler.

Since joining the school a few years ago, you've helped me develop as an angler in ways I didn't expect. Your approach to the mental side of fishing is critical, staying confident in my own style, and trusting my instincts has increased my success on the water. You asked me a few years ago "What are you confident in?" I could not really answer that back then. Now I can. Now I found I can fish like myself, not like everyone else. Chasing my fish not everyone elses was transformational in my growth as an angler. Thanks!

Being selected for the 2025 SUF School Sponsored Angler Development Program was an absolute honor!!! That sponsorship made it possible to compete at the BFL level and represent you and the school at tournaments across the Northeast - something I'm genuinely grateful for and it pushed me to require more from myself, learn and apply as much as I can and somewhat ignore some of the noise that is not for me. I bought and awesome Falcon from the best boat manufacturer and best owners.

This season taught me a lot about competitive fishing: the time commitment, the mental game, the grind of adapting to new waters and the highway driving and more driving... I proved to myself I belong at this level. Now I'm thoughtfully evaluating what 2026 looks like, but whatever path I choose, I'm so very grateful for the foundation you've helped me build and the help that you provide to so many other anglers on their journey and this community.

Thank you for believing in me and for creating a community that genuinely helps anglers grow as fisherman and people.

I appreciate you, Brian Latimer
