Tournment recap Lake Kegonsa. Fished the last tournament of the year this weekend. Sad that it’s already over. It was a challenge given this lake had a bad case of the algae blooms. On Thursday evening when I practiced after work, I had 5-6 good bites on a frog right on top of the algae blooms near docks and where the river met the lake. So you had clean oxygenated water going into the lake and like a “mud line” where it met the lake. There was so much bait there dancing on the surface it looked like rain drops hitting the water. So tournment day I went to that area. From 7am-11, not a single bite. I fished all the weeds that were still green on that lake. At 11 I decided to go to the opposite. Went to the other end of the lake where there was no weeds, shallow sandy bottom, and docks. Water visibility was still 1-2 inches and neon green, just didn’t have the big algae blooms. Apparently that’s where all the bass were hiding. Finished with 4 LM Bass 9.62lbs. All in all I learned a lot from this tournament and practice and what I need to do next year. Fall fishing use to be my most dreaded time of year to fish, but I’ve built a real confidence for it now. Thank you SUF for the lessons and teachings!
