My home lake has been pretty dead for some time. It’s been tough finding fish from the bank. Yesterday, after 5 hours with nothing to show for it, I stumbled on a section that looked dead. It was “dirty,” yet deep with noticeable algae. I was going to pass then saw movement. Threw a spinnerbait right at the reeds and immediately got a reaction and bite, but could hold on. Followed with a Z-Man Pop Frogz and watched a swirl and finally the big gulp. This may be my largest fish this season (4.2 lbs).

🥳First Bassmaster Kayak tourney in the books! I learned so much this past week and excited for the next one. Caught a lot of fish, just not many keepers! Will write a longer recap with some notes soon.
Some wins: Did not skunk. Did not place last. Survived crazy winds and best of all did not become alligator dinner! 🐊🍽️

day 2 at Alum creek was not any better started my morning at the Marina break walls and yep them cute smallies were there. got em on the drop shot with the flat worm. decided to make a change and ran north to new water i have never been to. i took the west(left ) branch and fished the island. circling/laps starting from 15ft depth working my way in. every lap i changed baits .pulled the large mount with the crank bait. the water clarity has drop to 1 ft visibility and stained. the break wall on the main lake was 3-4ft visibility. i finished my day working my way back out cranking the points. no luck. todays arsenal of baits was the same as yesterday. struggled to find scorable fish.
