Had to go defend the 2024 ACBM title with a dub to start year.
I tried to catch them deep, but it wasn’t happening for me. Every fish came on a Green Pumpkin Shakey in 5-10 ft of water near lay downs.
Weather was 37° with off and on rain ☔️. Not the biggest field because of it but a win is a win. Took home the big fish pot as well.
Shout out to Brian Latimer for the recent lake map break down on Belews Creek
and the SUF hoodie that kept me warm all day.
Best of luck to everyone with upcoming tournaments!
Thought of the day:
<Embrace the Grind: Growth Mindset + SUF(Support) + Adversity = Excellence on the Water>
When I began tournament fishing in 2022, I was overwhelmed with information. That's when joining SUF changed everything. BLat's KISS (Keep It Simple, Silly or Stupid) approach helped me cut through the clutter, build confidence in my abilities, and learn my confidence baits.
It reinforced that Adversity isn't our enemy - it's our teacher. When you shift from trying to beat others to being 1% better than yesterday, the pressure transforms into fuel for growth. SUF gave me the support system and framework to embrace this mindset in my tournament fishing.
Remember:
</Growth Mindset + SUF Support + Adversity = Excellence on the Water & Life>
Headed to the Richmond Fishing Expo and sporting the school!
It’s a little chilly 37deg going to have fun and give it he’ll. have a great day everyone be safe
One fish to weigh in today on Lake Murray 4 lbs even. I couldn’t talk them into biting but it was a good day!
I just used the TBN discount code and saved 60 bucks.
Here’s the link to snoop around if you need some tiny boat accessories. To be honest there’s a bunch of good stuff for all types of boats.

Hi Everyone I am Tom a new member to SUF. Today I had the opportunity to attend my first live (lunch n' learn) and it reassured me that my decision to become a member was the right choice. I've had the opportunity to view some of the past pod cast, quick tips and live sessions and I am excited about the information that is being shared. YES I would like to be considered for a boater position in the angler development program. I like to tell everyone that I am in the end of 3rd year of my 5 year apprenticeship for my new career. its something I want to do for the rest of my life. I think this opportunity will be the valuable scaffolding that i will need to succeed and develop. A road map/guide to help me focus in the right direction. a mentorship. and maybe explain why not once but twice my CO put 13-15lbs in the boat behind me while i struggled to put 10lbs in the boat. I'm excited to get this season started as soon as the water softens some here on the north coast/ Lake Erie (North East Ohio) and to answer your question B-Lat "what do we do for 4 months of not fishing?" we replace split rings/ hooks on our baits. 😁
So I’m working on snow/ice on my gravel driveway and I noticed this that relates to fishing. Our temperature this week have been below freezing all day long but mostly sunny. So the gravel still heats up and is melting the frozen snow. Each day we are getting a fraction more daylight so imagine why the fish like rock in cold water. As long as the sun can reach the rock in the waterway it will heat up no matter the water temperature. The bigger the rock surface the more heat potential. Be intentional when fishing!
Today these are the topics I’m going to address around winter cranking
