Brian Barde asked about books to help hone his skills. This book has been one of my favorites. It speaks to the fact that talent doesn’t exist. There’s so many gems to talk about. I can read this one over again like I never read it before.
Barde rods update…my father in law and I spent some time with the rods and tried various baits. Had 15lb braid with 10lb leader on both reels. (Because these were the only two reels I still had line on, end of season for me)
Bushido - Ned, SMH head, wacky
GRB - light ned, crappie jigs, 1-2” jerkbaits.
Both rods preformed wonderfully. Really impressed with casting distance even with the smaller lighter baits. Going to be ordering my father in law the GRB for Christmas. Let me or Brian Barde know if you have any questions.
Good morning fishing crew I’ve got a question I’ve been bouncing around in my head and thought why not ask the crew and get other opinions: I’ve got a 87 ranger 363V, my steering cables need to be replaced. I’ve been bouncing the idea of upgrading to hydraulic steering but not sure if I want to pull the trigger; any opinions on upgrading or staying rack and pinion would be greatly appreciated from the community.

" Build the boat you always wanted. The best and most useful accessories for your kayak,
So my Dad told me a real long time ago, when he was a kid, they used to do a fishery festival of sorts on the ice at this one lake everyone would catch these giant perch at. The fish were full of eggs. Near the end of the day, the people that attended would get together and cut the egg sacks out of all these fish, flour them and fry them up. Any people in the community ever try this? What did ya think if you have? I tried it out with a handful I cought once. I'd do it again!
So hopefully I can help someone else from making the same mistake. I added a couple graphs to my bow and wanted a bigger starting battery to handle it all. Current one wasn’t cutting it. I went with a bigger AGM battery which I didn’t know, older 2 stroke Mercurys can’t handle it. Mine is a 2004. It ended up melting the altinator regulator. The new Mercury 4 strokes don’t have this issue. Found this out while my boat was getting winterized.
