Hey, way to get out there and try your first tournament! Last year was my first year joining a club and trying tournaments. Not until the 3rd tournament did I have a 5 fish limit, and I caught the 5th 15min before weigh in. I encourage you to keep at it and get signed up for the next one. The more you do, the more things will become easier and make sense. Also just curious, what lakes are you fishing in Livonia? I use to spend a lot of time in the East side of Michigan for work.

Hey Ayden, I grew up on Lake Erie and live close to Lake Michigan now. They are 100% intimidating. But like Mack said, find a spot on the lake (which may be a few miles out) shoal, hump, rock pile and fish it like you would a smaller lake. Just make sure to check the NOAA data first to see what the conditions are like.
