On a point in the weeds. This guy missed it 3 times before just hammering the frog. (Insert Bobby Berrick sounds effects here).

              Lake Breakdown follow up:
Redstone Lake - unique lake to Wisconsin, created in the 1960’s and has a tanic/brown stain water. Majority of WI lakes are natural.
We only had 6 hours so Mark and I started out on the lily pads in coves and pockets we waypointed from Google earth and Omnia. We flipped and threw topwater, no luck. Then we decided to try our secondary spots rip rap w/ docks. Multiple species were hanging out right on the bank of the rip rap. The bass weren’t on the docks, they were only on the rip rap that had docks adjacent. Once we figured out where they were, we hit as many of those spots as we could. Caught em’ at will. We threw a 1-2 punch with a jig and crankbait. Once we made the switch to a jig and crankbait we realized the bites we were getting were bigger.
Mark caught a nice Musky and also a new net for himself off the bottom. We were also able to catch Walleye, Crappie, and even Smallmouth off the same rip rap the LM were on. Even though on the DNR site it says there are not any Smallmouth…there were. For 5 biggest bass we each ended up having a bag with 8-9lbs total. From our research, winning tournament bags have been 9-12.5lbs.
We had a great time and looking forward to hitting the next lake we broke down, Dutch Hallow.

Don’t ya hate it when after you tie a perfect connection knot you cut the main line instead of the tag end. 😡

Got to go out this afternoon and they were knocking the BAA-JESUS out of the swim jig. The way they locked it up, 2lbers felt like 8lbers. (only what I can guess a 8lber feels like because I never haven’t caught one yet). One of them coughed up this baby blue gill. On one of our lakes it feels like post spawn, they’re very spread out and seem to be in ambush areas. Managed to catch 10 after covering a lot of water.

Just had one of those relax fun fishing days. Put the trolling motor on anchor near a BUNCH of blue gill beds for hours. Threw that drop shop and reeled them in.

Doc Trez and I used the new messaging ability on the app. It honestly worked really well! One note though, it would be great if we could send images through the chat.

Had a great long weekend with the family at the cabin. We ate good food and fished. Ned rig by stumps and swim jigs through the pads were key. Still pre spawn in Northern Wisconsin. Hope everyone had a great Memorial Day and weekend!

Does anyone know how long a bass will wait to bite again after being caught? Not necessarily bedding fish but in general? After our heavy hitters tournament, all the fish were released at that dock and imagine they won’t be going far.

Had a great time at our big bass bash on Sunday! Caught a bunch of bass but none of our bass won any of the 8 hour segments. Still didn’t walk away empty handed. Found some great early growth pre spawn weeds and rock piles I didn’t know of before. Also have a better understanding of which areas of the lake/docks are better for Pre-Spawn and holds the early spawners. While slowly going through a 2ft deep weed flat I saw what I though was a telephone pole laying in the water…nope it was a giant Musky. Probably 60+ inches long and had the girth of a telephone pole.
Have to congratulate my great friend Dr. Tony Dugas who got to join me in this tournament. Just finished getting his PHD after 4 years and he celebrated by going fishing. Also have to thank Brian Barde for the custom Workhorse Rod!!

I haven’t been able to make many of the round table chats so I’ve been watching the recordings on the side. I’ll tell ya what, I need to try and make some of the lives. Such good conversations and a sense of community in there. I encourage everyone to give them a shot if they haven’t.
