If you can only buy one reel for cranking, should it be 6.5 to 1?

Stopped by the Florida Bass Conservation Center on my trip. Here is a picture of the Florida trophy catch annual winners. https://myfwc.com/fishing/freshwater/stocking/fbcc/

Visiting family without fishing gear and looking at this view - uggh. Hey Brian Latimer, it's early January in Central Florida, what are you throwing from the bank?

Love it! I fished for over a decade out of a Lowe FM165 with two 7-inch Lowrance FS7 fish finders and a 60HP ETEC including close shore salt water. Most people cannot afford $100k boat and a truck to tow it. I upgraded to a used fiberglass boat. The bass do not care what boat you fish out of. There is a huge market of fishermen looking to get better who may not have access to high-end bass boat. 👍 It is a good idea to flush the motor after saltwater as well.  Fishing an affordable bass boat and basic electronics fresh and salt water.

It was too cold (skim ice) for fishing here, so I took my son to the slopes today.

I need help making it stick in my brain. LOL. Repetition and practice is likely what I need.

(Part 6) - Weather can be a significant factor when fishing. Bluebird skies and no wind will likely make the Bass easier to spook, and they are tight to cover. Wind and overcast will likely make the Bass come off the cover and be more aggressive. Wind can add oxygen, stir the water, and push water into a shoreline. It also breaks the water surface and, like overcast, can get fish to move off cover and be a bit more active. Weather fronts also make a difference. I have yet to figure those out as much. Pre-coldfront seems better than post-coldfront.

(Part 5) - Pay attention to what is going on around you! Try locations where birds hunt baitfish, or if you find baitfish on your sonar, try there. Listen and look for fish breaking the surface. Except for those dam carp, they always make me look.

(Part 4) - In summer, below 30 feet or so, depending on light penetration, the lower portion of the thermocline has less oxygen, and fish will stay toward the top. Cold water holds more oxygen, and warm water contains less oxygen. In winter, the thermocline flips, known as turnover. The thermocline will likely dictate where in the water column they will be.
