Slow, fast or stop and go retrieve for crankbaits in winter fishing?

Does time of the day matter in the winter fishing?

Just a regular steering wheel hookup like regular bass boats.

I have a water reservoir less than 20 minutes from my house that has a 9.9hp restriction. It has 3 different ramps and has great fishing. I have a Mercury 9.9hp on my tracker boat and it fishes very comfortably. The boat is low maintenance and runs forever on a tank of gas. The bonus is I get to keep my hat on at the top speed of 7 miles an hour.

Would there be any benefits to use monofilament line on crankbaits to keep them shallow in grass?

Is it worth the effort ( wears you out) cranking the deep large crankbaits in wintertime?

Great ideas. Thank you

I had some success in the spring and summer burning a shallow crankbait in grass. Hard stop and go’s produces reaction bites. My theory has been to not give the fish a chance to think just react. Covers a lot of water and then allows me to try some plastics in places I got a bite.

What is your ideal Gear ratio for the crankbait reel?
