First fish of 2026- Orange Chatterbait, 52 degree muddy water on the Potomac , two feet deep, bait went weightless on the retrieve, set the hook - bingo - fish

7 fish caught on the Potomac today. Smallest fish was a 2.95 lb. Top five fish weighed in at 16.38 lbs and the highest water temp was 57 in the back of a creek.

Opened my fortune cookie today. Looks like the retreat is going to be a good one.

Excellent. Brian Barde is driving 9 hours to pick me up in Virginia and then we will be at the retreat also.

Yes for the Chatterbait workshop. I usually throw the jackhammer but I’m tired of the snakeheads ruining by lure. I have some of the Zman evo’s I will be using this year in the Potomac River grass.

My buddy says he fishes the Chatterbait like a jig. Do you have any experiences in that technique? I had success getting it bogged down in the grass and then rip it out then stop it so it’s sinks then……bam!!!
