How much weight would you use for casting Gremlim in Potomac River heavy grass in 4-5 feet of water?

I got a chance in September to do some small mouth fishing on the St Lawrence River in New York. Best fishing experience in my lifetime. A week of non stop catching fish.

I won! That’s great!

Brian, you mentioned you are particular on the number eyelets in your spinning rod. So what is the number you like?

What is your ideal number of bearings inside your spinning reel?

I’m still fishing for largemouth in Northern Virginia but not much happening for me so far.

Excellent information Brian. I fish the Potomac River in Virginia so it’s usually under 5 feet with grass. Would you recommend the same weight or lighter?

I have a kayak and a small tracker boat. I prefer to fish out of the boat for comfort and higher sight line for casting. I do see the advantage such as stealthiness, skinny water ability. Lost two rods already due to low hanging trees taking the rods while they were in the rod holder behind me. The wind also pushing the kayaks around too easily. I would probably enjoy it more if I had an actual fishing kayak with pedals therefore leaving me hands free. However, by the time you pay for one of those, it’s closer to my small bass boat cost.Â
