Beginner tournament anglers

So this is going to be my second season fishing a local club. On most lakes I can get my limit quick just throwing my normal confidence lures. Never can get them really big ones during tournaments. My question is on game planning, should I throw my Texas rigs, wacky, shakey, spinnerbait, etc to start my morning to make my limit then start trying to cull by throwing bigger baits, or should I just take a gamble and throw big baits all day??

2025 RECAP:

This year I learned a lot. I stepped outside of my comfort zone a lot of times. I finally got those jitters and nervousness to calm, when driving to the ramp of a new lake. Thank you God for allowing me to progressed. I have been bass fishing for 5 years now and boating for two. I have become so much better at driving and positioning my boat this year. I’ve fished 9 tournaments this year and 4th place is my best. I’m coming for some checks next year, believe that!! HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

I’m fine with 5-10 mph to boat and fish in comfortably. When it’s blowing harder than that and high gust. I’ll just hit a pond. They will still bite, just hard for me to control the boat fishing

Did that this weekend. I went to a electric power plant lake because I knew the lake was warmer than the others around here, and the parking lot was packed like the bass master classic. Never phased me and my partner, we moved around fished like 4 to 5 areas, each area had boats, we used proper etiquette and ended up catching 9 to 10. Would have been a decent tournament day

Hey Brian, I just joined but been watching for a while actually. It would be nice if you could do some Louisiana lake breakdowns; Caddo Lake, Black Bayou Hosston, LA, Lake Bisteneau. Nobody breaks it down like you and I’m new to boating, I’ve been on it for about a year now so I would enjoy to see how you could break down these Cypress Jungles. Thanks BLat
