Old school angler still learning after 50 years. Glad to be a part of the SUF Community and help any way I can.

Barde is spot on. The weight difference is one piece of empirical data that can’t be refuted.

I agree completely. Day 2 is much more interesting to watch.

I’ve been on the fence about this on a competitive level. I love technology if used as a tool, but it shouldn’t be a crutch, ESPECIALLY when peoples livelihood is at stake. I like how MLF has dipped their toe in the water with 1/2 usage for qualifying day it’s allowed. I do think it’s time to go 100% one way or another. If I had a voice, I would look at how it has changed the industry as a whole since being implemented. From a fan perspective I personally like watching skill sets with decisions about bait selection and target locations be the deciding factor versus who can view a digital display better. I’d also rather see other sponsors take up the slack, kick more sponsorship dollars and remove the funding from the ā€œscopeā€ companies out of the business decision for the allowable usage of FFS. Realizing the end result is I have to pay a little more for products from a consumption level when supporting the industry. In Summary: Don’t let it be a funding decision on whether to allow it or not.

Will you’ll find there isn’t a standard. Every manufacturer has their ā€˜definition’. A GLoomis will feel completely different than a Shimano or Fitzgerald. Brian Barde , being a rod builder can get more specific. In the end, I prefer a rod that acts as a shock absorber between me and the fish.
