I thought that was a great session. It supported everything I’ve been able to research the past few years. With that said, I’m sticking to my Purple Rain and Smoke Purple SMH. Jerkbait will vary depending on where I’m fishing, cloud cover and water clarity. I always have a few red crankbaits on hand.

Celebrated my final treatment on Monday by hitting the water today. Got 14 LMB and this Fatty Tilapia that came in 3 1/3 LB. Threw my typical Jerkbait and SMH all day.

It’s almost like you’ve been hanging out with an offshore guy.

Thought of Tron and caught 8 or 9 of these in 35 foot of water this Friday. I was fishing a natural sinkhole to test a new rod and reel combo for deep water. Super clear water and using the Doodle method, but with a heavier jig head and minnow. I didn’t upsize the bait on purpose but FFS showed the window of opportunity and I decided to try the method anyway. I consider myself lucky to be in a climate and the SUF community where we can try new things all year long. #makeeverycastcount

Peter, I live a little more than an hour from Okeechobee so it’s my back yard. Let me know if you want to get together and fish it

BFL Entry - Lake Okeechobee : I just registered for the first event in the Gator division for MLF 2026. I had to enter as a boater without a co-angler. Here's to the 2026 season!

I switch back and forth from scout mode to forward mode a lot. If I haven’t side scanned an area scout mode gives me a quick overview of the area as you can see through my screen that needed to be cleaned.

I've been absent since the Fall Fishing Tour and Elite Anger Academy. However, it was for a good reason. I wanted to take in all the experience and tweaks that I picked up and apply them in two different tournaments in the past 2 weeks. I just needed to file all of the info away and organize it in my brain. It all started with a complete focus on what I needed to do to perform. First up was Okeechobee. After that, I got lucky and a buddy came to practice with me one of the days just before the Jim Hooven Open. It was a great sanity check. I accomplished better than expected results! Finished off the weeks taking someone special on the boat for an evening of fishing antics. Next step is BFL registration for 2026 season.
