I heard an interesting quote today related to the forage of a fishery. “Forget studying the cat. Study the mouse.”

We ended up placing 3rd overall and happy with that. I stuck to my plan. Co angler threw a wacky after the morning bite. Best of all we had a blast with a beautiful breeze all day.

Hey Chris, nice catch. But the Bubba pro isn’t saying 5.08, it’s 5lb 8ounces. That’s a nice 5 1/2 pounder bro!

Sitting in the boat prepping for a private last minute tournament tomorrow. 2 Fish team deal with no prep allowed. Only know the general area of The Everglades. The decision process starts now. I figure a frog and popper with a spook as a backup for the morning. Square bill and jerk for mid morning, then try to clean up with Shakey and Texas rig for the afternoon. Keeping it simple. Only using 5 rods. No clue what the clarity or depth will be like. My mission is to just have fun.

I just found out that the one I submitted from Lake O is a spotted bass. I had no idea they were even down here. I barely looked at it. Not bad at 15.25. Pretty rare. *shrug

Okeechobee Tournament Results: It was a brutal day for everyone as the lake and weather didn't cooperate. Water temps were between 94 and 97. I had make a strategic decision after a couple hours of silence that payed off. I used an old school technique of finding: 1. Big concrete structure 2. Wind blown area that fed water directly from the main lake to a canal with a depth of 10-15 feet. 3. See a pattern of waiting for the drive by fish instead of chasing them. 4. Keep my boat and co-angler safe from a maze of hazards. = We fished the rim canal gated spillways. This was the second time in a row that my boat won not only the Big Bag, but also the Biggest Fish. When it mattered the most it came down to what Brian says all the time. Make the right decisions, use common sense, and don't over complicate things. 😉
