Barde is spot on. The weight difference is one piece of empirical data that can’t be refuted.

Brian Barde was busy washing my truck for upcoming trip… yes, it adds to our knowledge. Yes, others could purchase the tech and spend the time learning it. Our civilization has evolved because of technology beginning with fire and the wheel. BUUUT, the bigger picture of the industry and how we want it to evolve is what we should think about. It directly increases the cost of entering competitive events. What if the cost of advanced electronics creates a barrier for those who simply can’t afford it? How far down the rabbit hole of “pay to compete” is it taking us and is it worth it? You know me better than most about my experience with technology. At the end of the day, it boils down to the future and wellness of what is best for the sport and keeping the field as level as possible. And if that isn’t possible, then have multiple leagues for each format… oh wait, that already happened and was a catalyst that divided up sponsorship funds and affected the Professional Anglers pockets. *wink*
Quick edit: for those who don’t know Barde and I are both Technology guys who earn a livelihood from it. The other part of that coin is we also look at all sides for a topic and point them out for others. It’s not an argument. It’s just trading ideas.
