Avid bank angler making the conversion to kayak & boat fishing. On the hunt for my first ever elusive double digit bass!

I didn't expect them to eat it. The objective was to get them to attack or at least show me some one was home to save time (and soft plastics lol. I've got a ever growing pile of craws missing appendages from 2 weeks of bed fishing)

Anyone else ever use a small glide bait to scout out suspected bass on beds? Was less than ideal conditions to site fish today with the wind. Figured I'd try chopping a 5" glide through the beds and it worked! Caught 2 little males that way.

God blessed me with a productive hike up and down the feeder creeks this evening. Caught 9 total with 2 really nice ones I found on beds in separate creeks. A 5lb 9oz and 5lb 7oz.

I completely agree with Brian Latimer on baitcaster drags. For my moving baits with treble hooks, I have my drag just tight enough for the hookset, and even then my drag is going to give if I don't use my thumb. It took a whole season of cranking to get use to using my thumb for drag & hookset, but so far (especially this month) I haven't ripped any hooks out on the bigger bass.

Kenny Richards, for me the big girls seem to show up before or after any tournaments. (or get off and break my heart during)

If you are referring to 5's, then yes. 6's are getting kind of scarce.

Yes I was fishing from the bank. I was positioned so that I could cast parallel with the weedline. It was probably about 3 foot deep. (all my 3+lb bass lately have been in that depth on the lipless)
