Bank: Fishing the edge of any grass is working for me. Cranking, chatterbait, even buzzbait on top. Also doing the same around other vertical structure.

Pond Fishing:

Went back to the pond from yesterday caught 5 in under a hour. Buzzbait, chatterbait along the grass line parallel to the bank. Water was about 4 foot deep and grass was 1-2 ft below surface. Landed all the bites I had which felt like redemption from yesterday.

Chandler Timothy Thank you, there is the Blue River a couple hours from me that I was looking into taking a trip. It has smallies in it. It seems like most places within and hour drive of me have a heavy population of spotted bass. I don’t have much experience with swimbaits but I do have some confidence with spinnerbaits and chatterbaits so I’m definitely going to try those out. Appreciate you!

What do you like throwing for small mouth? I’ve never caught one.

Today I’m calling it a mental lapse on my end just decided to switch what I know all of a sudden. I also have been using a floro leader then got lazy today and didn’t tie one to the end of my braid which definitely felt different setting the hook.

Pond Fishing: If your drag isn’t set correct and you stop reeling you will lose fish. Had two hooked fish, landed one on the Buzzbait. Both were in a 1-2 ft of water. I was casting to the opposite bank in the stickerbushes drug it into the water and across got five bites that way.

Henry Shepherd Brian and the guys recommend throwing along/ parallel to the bank if the bank is real shallow like a upside down frisbee then I will throw a crank that doesn’t dive that much. If the bank looks more like a mixing bowl then I through something that dives deeper. I want the bait to bump and knock into the structure on and near the bottom.
