what B Lat did you break?

So I think I'm going to try a Texas Rig, per a video or two on here from blat. But Ive also rigged a chatter, and a micro-chatter, just to see what happens!

I need some expert advice. This afternoon I went to try out my new BLat Series 6.8 rod. My Baitcaster with 30# braid on it, and it casts really well with that rod. So this little lake, called Lake Reba is only about 75 acres and NO ONE is on it, except some guys on this long pier type thing (catfish I think). While casting, I kept pulling thru a bunch of green stuff... See pic. There is also an island and a section covered in lily pads. So I'm excited to try my hand at this. The only bait I had with me was a chatterbait. I could pull through it but constantly having to clear my hook. How would you fish this stuff? I was trying the BLat advice "throw what no o ne else is throwing". 😆

I want to fish it because I did get a bite, and saw the fish. It's also stocked with large mouth

OK, sorry to double post... but I had to take a step back a moment. As a newbie, and thinking of my experience recently, and how info out here helped me... the understanding of "where(Structures and whatnot), when(Seasons), and how(Gear)". Nomenclature like points, flats, laydowns, grass, structure, shelves (shelfs), dropoffs, suspended, schooling (which means something totally different in the bass fishing world from what I gather), finesse, rig, etc etc. These are just a handful of things I literally googled as I watched these videos, just to make sure I was on the same page. It seems so commonsense or simple to someone who does it, but to a newcomer, it's really a language unto itself.

a baitcaster, all I had was a Zebco UL4 Micro from 1986🤣 I had to YT everything to set that thing up, and then YT again to cast it after blowing it up, again and again. The only baits I had were like 1 little spinner, and a little crappie grub (I think left over some some cub scout trip 100 yrs ago). Buying bait was a nightmare... but luckily, and part of the reason I ended up on SUF, was that I decided to settle on just 1 brand, and in a round and about way ended here.  Honestly, your videos helped navigate that. Having like a streamlined workshop is a great idea. I was watching your "5 poles" segment today, some of that would be good in a class like this. Like a Blat fishing kit 101 for beginners.

Literally this summer; maybe July, with intent and knowledge. Before that, the last time I fished was 3 yrs ago; and never with intent to target or catch. LOL There is a whole story behind it all and how I ended up on this site, but seriously, only in the last few weeks, since joining and watching your videos, did I actually learn something... a lot actually. Like using a chatterbait, or a baitcaster. I had never used either. Almost everything I caught was on that with some kind of crazy trailer... I love a chatterbait now. LOL... and just FYI that I can un-birdnest 20# braid pretty quickly now on a baitcaster... actually easier than 30# or FC... lol

Great video!!!!

So I'm in Lexington and Herrington, Beaver, Taylorsville, Reba and Cumberland are all within 60 minutes. I have fished them all in the distant past, but nothing recent. I'm excited to revisit them now! 😂
