From the Lake to the plate!
For one that likes to hunt and fish, its been a real good day today. Got to pull the trigger along side my son on some ducks on a beautiful morning, ended up with a couple teal, and had some bass success in the afternoon! Can't complain with that outcome, dang near a perfect day!
Ray and I worked on using electronics to find schools of fish yesterday!
Bank:Pond: Hook set question
I worked this stretch of the bank for about and hour had three fish on the line landed two.
In regards to hook sets are there different hook sets for different lures/techniques?
I saw a video of Bobby Barracks in the app say that he likes to reel a load into the rod and sweep it to set the hook on a chatterbait. I’ve been using this method. But I’m curious if there are different philosophies on hook sets and what you all believe is the most effective?
🚨Hey SUFam! By request of a new member Darrell Rodgers , tonight’s roundtable discussion will focus on how anglers choose different spots to upgrade fish during a tournament. Tune in tonight to share your strategies and learn from others. Looking forward to another great session together tonight at 8PM EST.

Pond Fishing:
Went back to the pond from yesterday caught 5 in under a hour. Buzzbait, chatterbait along the grass line parallel to the bank. Water was about 4 foot deep and grass was 1-2 ft below surface. Landed all the bites I had which felt like redemption from yesterday.
So I’m putting myself through the “fall bass learning boot camp”. Basically I take an hour in the morning and dedicate it to learning all I can about the current season. Typically through a b-lat video
This might sound super simplistic but I’ve reached a aha moment using google AI.
I’m pretty good at following directions, but when something is or isn’t working I don’t really understand why Rather it’s bait selection, location, conditions etc.
With AI if I want a deeper understanding I can just ask it and it gives really detailed answers. (From this I’ve basically written reports on the things I’ve learned to better retain them)
Literally ordering baits with a pictures of “Florida threading Shad, and bluegills” pulled up on one monitor and picking the color and profile that best matches it.
I just think it will give more confidence in the decision we make on the water if we understood in detail why. Like why Shad go shallow in the fall, or why bass feel the need to eat up and the rabbit hole is endless.
If this is everyone’s common way to study then just remember I’m new and mind ya business 😁. But if you haven’t tried it I recommend it.
This has been a incredible day of fishing and learning. SUF elite angler academy day 2. Today was all sonar logistics and systems training.
Got out for a couple hours today. Likely the last time I’ll get out this year. Only managed one little guy. I was surprised on how many green weeds there still were. Usually they’re brown and deteriorated by now.
