A little bed fishing during club tournament. Air temp 45 water temp 57. Lure sitting in the bed is what?
From a tournament on May 3rd. Do Bass spawn when it is snowing out? Well here I catch one on a bed.Ā While it was snowing out. I got 3rd place.
Went to a new lake today, It is close in size and structure to the one I will be fishing this weekend so sort of a Pre Fish. Lake Blue Cypress is likely the prettiest lake in Florida. Fished for about 4 hours, found a lot that did not work, They would not touch a shaky head or Carolina rig. Went to an old standby, EZ Swimmer (Actually a Bitters Naked Swimmer, but same idea), rigged Texas weightless and retrieve so it stays on the surface and also letting it drop in openings in the grass. Ended with 3 scorable bass, total weight 7.63. I am sure Mack would feel right at home on this lake, Surrounded by Cypress trees, and Gators big enough to eat his Kayak.
Question about the new āpro anglers in local tournamentsā video.
Noticed and could hear that Brian was disengaging and re-engaging his spool release button instead of relying on the drag. Is there any particular reason for this?
Sucks that I cannot use any fish I catch this weekend in the SUF Bass Challange because I am Fishing/Captain in a Jr and a HS Tournament this weekend on a highly limited access very low pressure lake here in Florida, I have wanted to fish this lake for over 50 years and never could gain entry.Ā
I have searched and there are no TOPO maps for this specific lake, Likely post Spawn so first order is to try and locate panfish beds with sidescan, Other areas I have identified, Likely hit those in order, unless other boats are on them, likely about 30 boats on this small lake, if all are taken will start looking for deeper transitions, That worked on another lake Friday. The areas are:
1. Mouth of a small canal entering the lake, That is working on nearby lakes.
2. Possible points extending into the lake.
3. That shoreline is a transition from a marsh area into the lake.
4. The only 2 docks on the lake.
The lake has a lot of Cypress around it (Mack would be in heaven) along with other unknown vegetation.
And starting lure selections
1. Shaky Head
2. Small shad bait
3. Chatterbait
4. Carolina Rig
5. Glide bait
With as little information I have I feel this will be a solid plan, I will adjust for Sunday from what I learn on Saturday.
Any thoughts to what may be better options for me, Always open to suggestions.
2nd Place in Club tournament this weekend. 35 and rain to start the tournament, rained all day and we made it to 45. Super slow tough day and I manage to pull out 2nd. Weights were not high. A lunker 6 lb 6oz largemouth was caught but he only had one fish.Ā
Excited to start my first kayak league tomorrow. Iāve gone over all the rules and itās more or less time lines and how to CPR your fish. So I donāt make an a$$ out of myself, what are some of the unwritten rules to go by. For example, I donāt know how much distance I should give my fellow anglers before it starts to be an issue. What are other things I should know about?
