Road trip fun: Dropped in on Mr Tim Dodson today. Had a great time with him and my brother in law fishing Falls Lake.
Did a Club Tournament at Smith Mountain Lake in Southwest Virginia. Never been there before so fished two days and then the tournament. Found enough fish to finish 3rd with 5 fish for 11.8 pounds. Bait fish were everywhere so it was tough to get’em to bite an artificial lure.
Caught them in open water below bait balls on a soft swimbait ( Sexy Shad colored), Crankbait ( Sexy Shad) and a 6 inch spoon ( sexy Shad). Notice a theme?
Just want to thank B-Lat for last week’s “sermon” on fighting big fish. I’ve never been one to actively adjust drag during a catch, however I definitely did during this catch, which is now my PB - 5.94 lbs (extremely rare for my home lake).
B-Lat! I think you forgot the number one rule in fighting a big fish…stay calm.
I had a blast this weekend taking my niece and nephews out. I even got a cool pic of a huge tree full of fish.
Nothing I did yesterday worked today… 30 miles an hour winds and a jacket… I did manage one bite. Crazy how things changed overnight.
Destiny Siguenza did a fantastic job coordinating the mini retreat at Guntersville and fed us good too! We are blessed to have her in our group and in the SUF community. I had a blast and looking forward to our next event.
I had to take a quick screen shot of holding first place in both Smallmouth and Largemouth before you guys submit your big ones... 😀😅😮💨
Some Sunday sheenanigans.. I managed to get 2 fish that were board worthy.. was a tough bite in the 20-30mph winds in a kayak.. good luck all competing in the suf tournament
