Christopher Bowman personally I’d stay away from braid when using those baits. I typically go straight fluro 12-17lb test.

You don’t have to use a leader but it may help based on the technique. Or just go straight fluro. The only thing I go straight braid on in clear water is a jig or Texas rig in the weeds.
