Have a tournament coming up this weekend. Friday-Sunday looking at a significant cold front with nightly temps in the high 20’s and days in the 40’s but sunny. Wind 17-20mph. Current water temps are in the high 40’s low 50’s. Bass are currently pre spawn, roaming out in front of docks or on the front posts of docks in shallow protected pockets. Will be targeting LMB. There is a mix of clear, stained, and muddy water. Practiced over the weekend and caught them in all 3 water clarities. No weeds have grown yet. I rewatched a lot of our videos, but wanted to see what your thoughts were?

During the pre spawn would large mouth and smallmouth use those points as well?  Or just spots?

Good memory.  This was Lake Mendota, one of our home lakes in the city of Madison. I’ll be at Lake Wisconsin today practicing for a tournament next week.

Thanks for the teachings!

knocked slack into the line then the drag on the Lews Hypermag was screaming!

I’ll take a warm sunny day on a clear natural lake with water temp in the 60’s fishing some weeds.  Let’s go!

Brian Latimer were you targeting them or accidental catches?

Do you feel an underspin would help generate more bites?  Smallmouth is going to be the species I go after this next couple weeks.

I’ll be practicing all weekend for two tournaments coming up the following week.  Will finally be warm in the 70’s!  18-20mph S winds and water temps still in the mid 40’s. One tournament lake will have stained/muddy water.  The other crystal clear.  Â
