For me it is understanding that as the water gets colder up here in the north and the weeds are dying off the fish are relating to deeper hard structure and bait. If you can find them I have been able to find the fish. I have been leveraging the jig. I think it is working because it mimics the crawfish. A crawfish is a high density protein food. Up here where it ices over I think the fish are looking for these dense food sources to build up reserves for the winter. I think this is different than places down south where the water is open all year.
