Hey man, I sure hate a thief. As an LEO some things I would recommend is using locks or zip ties on totes, if you don't have a tool box. I have used a bike chain and to secure my kayak to trailer and post at home. (Just have multiple keys to the locks!) Another tip if you have totes in the bed of your truck is to chain all of them together. Make it harder for the theft to be quick and easy. If it takes time to steal something the thieves usually won't take the time... The more time in the area the more chance of getting caught... Finally I suggest taking pictures of your valuables and their serial numbers, as well as have some identifying markings on them. Usually in a place that not most people will look or it will be obvious it was covered up by someone. Sure there are 100k Abu Garcia red max reels... But only one with serial number xxxx and 2 red sharpie dots under the reel seat. I usually have my badge number or initials sharpied on my bags and inside multiple pockets.
This also goes for all valuable in home etc. firearms, TVs, computers, etc. but especially fire arms. The soonwr we have a Srl number the faster we get item on NCIC as stolen (or lost).
Hate it happened to you. Check your local FB marketplaces and pawn shops I'm sure they will pop up.
