Landed my pb smallie, 20 incher and caught a 19 in one one or two casts after this one. Seen some tiny minnows being driven into a rock sticking out of the water on the bank. Wounder what was causing that to happen?! Tossed the squarebill that way and fight on!! Didn't have a scale with me but both were in the 5 lb. range. Fun bite!

Pretty excited today, fishing wasn't great but cought my first umbrella rig fish!! Short story, I don't normally do this but ima going to PLUG SOME STUFF! I was trying to figure out how to use the 7'8" Rake series rod I received from last years retreat. I didn't know what to do with it. Now I do! No one throws an A rig up here that I've seen. Probably cause of the 3 hook rules. Watched the Greg and O live awhile back Brian did and got an idea. Greg throws that rig alot in his videos and brought up the dark horse mini max rig he uses and they got a 3 hook version! Done deal! That rod can cast that thing a mile and its sturdy but not to stiff! It's got the right amount of... eeaahh to it, 😆
Plug and joking aside, I believe there were some more people that won or received some of those specific rods last year and if you don't know what to do with it and live where you can use these rigs, this is one way to use it!

Got in a bit of pre fishing today for a local tornament coming up on the 9th. 1st time this year in my home lake. Cought some clunkers. Water temp was 58°F. I think its getting about that time!! The three bass i cought are close to the bank about 1 to 2 ft of water. Snagged a carp, that was fun, but then a mess, wrapped around my trolling motor and wasted about 10 min of my life, lol... 🤦

FINALLY!! It's happening folks. Crawled out my winter cave, stretched a bit, ice is gone and its starting to look bassy!

We got a break!! It's in the teens today people.. Suns out, blue bird sky's, and the ice is safe to drive on after a week and a half of negative temps and the windchill has been something else. Burrrr!!! My cousin, a friend of his and myself got into some really nice gills today, we kept 17. Some of these gills where so thick, they must be eating alright! (second picture) Got one small bass on a tip down, that was cool. First bass I've seen in person I think since the beginning of this last Nov. maybe? All made for a realy nice day in my book, fun stuff!

Finally... got a break from the hustle and said screw it.... time to get out and forget everything else! First fish of 2026!! 🎆 only caught two but it felt good 👍. Good eating size though.
