Haven't hit the dog days yet! Got out yesterday and landed 10 or 11 in the yak. Lost a few but that'll happen... on this body of water, there was a real defined weed edge and I found the bass were set up off it and not in it at all. So ran the chatter, a square bill, a MR6 crankbait at various distances off of that edge and they were just there! Lots of fun, almost got to the point where you can call your shot type thing. AND... BLats Kut tail big worm neko set up he tought us, I got one!! I think I had the hook in the wrong way though... ( I got to double check the video again ) I cought one I missed with the crank that I had marked, left, and came back to, so the thing works, 😆!

BLAT has been telling us to get out to practice these techniques he's been teaching us the last couple of weeks. So I desided to take a day and dial in on punching a Texas rig through grass mats that were scattered in one of the lakes I like to fish. Doing the heavy set up for these grass clumps! Big weight, big hook, big braid, etc...darn near pretty close to what his videos have gone through... had a blast, it was a much needed and fun day and had some success. The one I got the short clip of was close to 18" and around 3 lbs. I did get the drop shot rod heated up too on some suspended bass I had found. Great day all n all.

Tried yet another new lake to me today. Did one of those, let's weigh the best 5 deals, why not right... Seen something a bit unique, I saw bluegill beds all over but then I also seen some bass beds still happening, kinda interesting. Water temp was low 80's here. A white frog and a buzz bait was the deal today!

Found a new play ground today! This place is pretty cool! Had no idea about it if it wasn't for someone metioning this place to me... and its buzzbait time! Also had a real good jig bite going on! That's always fun!! Got one smallie, one crappie, and I landed about 6 largemouth, lost a few and seen a bunch more. Fishing around these houses is kind of bonkers! 😆

Landed my pb smallie, 20 incher and caught a 19 in on one or two casts after this one. Seen some tiny minnows being driven into a rock sticking out of the water on the bank. Wounder what was causing that to happen?! Tossed the squarebill that way and fight on!! Didn't have a scale with me but both were in the 5 lb. range. Fun bite!

Pretty excited today, fishing wasn't great but cought my first umbrella rig fish!! Short story, I don't normally do this but ima going to PLUG SOME STUFF! I was trying to figure out how to use the 7'8" Rake series rod I received from last years retreat. I didn't know what to do with it. Now I do! No one throws an A rig up here that I've seen. Probably cause of the 3 hook rules. Watched the Greg and O live awhile back Brian did and got an idea. Greg throws that rig alot in his videos and brought up the dark horse mini max rig he uses and they got a 3 hook version! Done deal! That rod can cast that thing a mile and its sturdy but not to stiff! It's got the right amount of... eeaahh to it, 😆
Plug and joking aside, I believe there were some more people that won or received some of those specific rods last year and if you don't know what to do with it and live where you can use these rigs, this is one way to use it!
