I switch back and forth from scout mode to forward mode a lot. If I havenā€™t side scanned an area scout mode gives me a quick overview of the area as you can see through my screen that needed to be cleaned.

I've been absent since the Fall Fishing Tour and Elite Anger Academy. However, it was for a good reason. I wanted to take in all the experience and tweaks that I picked up and apply them in two different tournaments in the past 2 weeks.Ā I just needed to file all of the info away and organize it in my brain. It all started with a complete focus on what I needed to do to perform. First up was Okeechobee. After that, I got lucky and a buddy came to practice with me one of the days just before the Jim Hooven Open. It was a great sanity check. I accomplished better than expected results! Finished off the weeks taking someone special on the boat for an evening of fishing antics. Next step is BFL registration for 2026 season.

Iā€™ve been on Butler Chain, Hatchineha, Cypress, and Harris this past week. Itā€™s tough right now in Central Florida. Go junk fishing. Swindle defines it as putting 4 or 5 rods with your confidence baits on your deck. Pick the baits with the most teeth bites in em and tie them on. Downsize instead of going bigger. Stop analyzing and just start fishing. Iā€™ll take a ride today or tomorrow and launch there to see what I can figure out for ya.

Another tournament in the books:

The big O met with our local club today and did not disappoint. She was a stingy, misbehaving, and outright difficult body of water to deal with. However some of us managed to have a great time and built on the bridge of confidence. Next week itā€™s a tournament on Kissimmee that will test to the next level. As Brian recently told me ā€œyou arenā€™t competing against the other anglersā€ā€¦ figure the rest out like I did. :)

As I arrived at the Okeechobee ramp in Clewiston (2nd day in a row) with all the BASS EQ trailers, I thought of something. They may have more talent. They may have more resources. They will never out work me! As Brian Barde says: Preparation + Opportunity = Luck

I donā€™t mess with them. Iā€™d rather shake them off or cut bait and re tie. Not worth a bite that would end my day or infection.

I'm back home in Florida. 4,635 miles driven during the month long Fall Fishing Tour. Started in Guntersville with the SUF family, and ended up fishing 7 different states. AL, NC, PA, NY, NJ, VA, & SC.

I made it home just in time for a club tournament this weekend on Okeechobee, and Kissimmee next weekend. I wasn't going to participate, but I have this promise that nobody will outwork me so it's time to continue to work and stack the experience.

Once I get settled back in, i'll put together a summary of the time I was able to spend with Brian.

Spoiler: The entire trip was worth every penny! Loads of priceless experience.
