The weekend is going well, I caught a limit today and a rainbow trout on a neko rig. Here are a couple of highlights. I love being on the lake. :-)
Did a little better today almost caught a limit but most where shorts, flippin docs and throwing a jerk bait in the creeks. I definitely could hear sound bites from SUF schools in depths playing out in my head while on the water.
Got out for 2.5 hours to start weekend, water temp 56 degrees with previous week of cold front weather, today was high pressure and full moon yesterday. I got a few small ones and one 18.5" - couple on jig, couple on neko, I threw the swim jig & squarebill as well but no bites on them. Are you fishing this weekend?
Spent most the day on the lake throwing spinners, chatters, texas, drop, etc with the intention to keep wacky aside for my practice run. After a true skunk in the making, I made the switch. Guess I know my plan on Sunday. Anyone have any other suggestions?
Check this out. This smallie chased the lure to the surface on the other side of the boat. I was messing with it and it chased it all the way around the boat. It was like doing figure 8's with pike/musky except it was a smallmouth. Then, I held the lure just above the water’s surface. Smallmouth bass came out of the water to check out/get this bait. This was practice for a tournament so I was ok with not catching that day. I did go back and caught two in this area.
Smallmouth on a chilly 40 degree day. What weather conditions keep you off the water?
Fall is definately upon us up here in the Northeast. 40’s and drizzle yesterday.
Tough fishing on the Potomac today. Several fish came up short today and got only one to count. Fishing a shad colored lipless crankbait along a rocky point with grass. Wind was blowing pretty good that made the water cloudy so you had to zip it along to get the bass attention. Caught a bonus striper.
