š„³First Bassmaster Kayak tourney in the books! I learned so much this past week and excited for the next one. Caught a lot of fish, just not many keepers! Will write a longer recap with some notes soon.
Some wins: Did not skunk. Did not place last. Survived crazy winds and best of all did not become alligator dinner! šš½ļø

day 2 at Alum creek was not any better started my morning at the Marina break walls and yep them cute smallies were there.Ā got em on the drop shot with the flat worm. decided to make a change and ran north to new water i have never been to. i took the west(left ) branch and fished the island. circling/laps starting from 15ft depth working my way in. every lap i changed baits .pulled the large mount with the crank bait. the water clarity has drop to 1 ftĀ visibility and stained. the break wall on the main lake was 3-4ft visibility. i finished my day working my way back out cranking the points. no luck. todays arsenal of baits was the same as yesterday. struggled to find scorable fish.Ā
Learn from this: We fished a private tournament today. Multiple large fish were caught. A 7lbāer won the pot. Here is the lesson learned. When a co-angler, who fishes a lot of BFLās, opens the livewell on the way to weigh in, donāt let a 5lb fish jacked up on G-Juice jump out and escape over the transom. As the boater I just shook my head and giggled to myself. As Brian mentioned in the ākeep your fish aliveā sessionā¦ leave the livewell closed. Still had a fun day and stacked the experience ladder further.
Lost another good one today trying to get the dang net. I have to get a handle on boating these bigger fish.Ā Ā
