Hey Ed, so typically if I want to keep it shallower I’ll use a paddle tail and deeper I’ll use a straight tail minnow. For this instance I started with a paddle tail but my co had a straight tail and he was kicking my butt. So I switched to a straight tail minnow and then I started catching them too. We were both using a product from missle baits trailor. Off hand forgot the name of it.

I’ve used a Tokyo rig quite a bit. There is an area of our lake with tall weeds and has a lot of alage at the bottom. I like the Tokyo rig over a traditional Texas rig because it keeps the bait off the bottom more. In my experience this out performs a Texas rig in this situation. I’ve also used it for walleye with live bait as a bottom bouncer.

Brian B. Thank you this was helpful! Issue is there is a ladder on the starboard side of the bow so I can’t attach a second power pole. I don’t want to remove the ladder because my family and dog will use it when we’re out together

Is it worth it to get one power pole? On the Lund Impact due to the ladder you can only have 1 power pole. I do fish a lot of shallow water 8ft or less (weeds and docks)and I think a power pole will help me stay off the trolling motor. What are your thoughts?
