Just to be clear, I LOVE these online tournaments. I appreciate BLat for organizing them. I love competing in them because it gives me a little extra motivation to get on the water, even if just for a little while.

My Argument: Finding 5 consistently long bass is easier in southern waters with Florida strain genetics, while northern waters excel at producing shorter but heavier fish.

South - Length Advantage:

Florida strain reaches 14 inches faster and maintains growth longer

Extended growing seasons = more catchable fish in 18-22" range

Elongated body morphology built for shallow, warm waters

North - Weight Advantage:

Higher condition factors (compact, chunky builds)

Concentrated feeding periods create denser fish

Cold water metabolism produces more weight per inch

Key Points:

Population Density: More catchable long fish in southern waters due to Florida genetics

Odds Game: Even though Florida bass are harder to catch, higher populations in length ranges favor finding 5 long fish
