Hmmm what can I ask BLat?

I am starting to think I focus too much on making sure my co-angler has opportunities to catch fish, to a detriment of my own success.  What would y'all suggest?

Very tough practice day on Santee . 24 degrees at 7am when I launched. wind blew hard all day, white caps on the main lake. Most of the main lake has clear water and it was rougher than I could handle to run up the river. I found bait and 1 interesting stump in 15’ at 4pm and I was too wiped out to fish it so I guess that will be my first stop in the morning.
