Thanks for this Matthew Dennis. I checked pics of some of the ones I was positive were spots and one of them had a solid tail lateral. 🙄

Need a fish ID. Was fishing a new creek today. Was expecting largemouth, but started catching spots. Those were easy to identify due to the extra rows of lines below the lateral. Also caught some smallmouth-hybrids it seems. Biggest fish appears to be a largemouth but the mouth doesn't extend past the eye. So is it a spot?

Texas. A cold front and rain blew in last Friday and knocked the water temps down. However, temps are bouncing back rapidly (high of 90° today). This cold to rapid warm up has triggered some last minute spawners.

I keep the ultralight in the truck just for those times when the bass aren't biting (or the crappie school up at my local puddle, but that's another story) . On a few occasions that drastic down size in baits has shown me the bass are biting. It's just they are keyed in on tiny forage. Same baits I'm catching bluegill & crappie have produced 2-4lb bass at the same time.
