Caught a nice 4.02lb, 19.75" largemouth this morning while practicing for an upcoming championship on lake oconee... That, and a 27lb catfish that demolished my chatterbait ..!! This lake is a hard one to figure out..

I discovered something we all can use as a tool when we are doing research on a lake that we're about to fish a tournament on.... Google maps now has "street view" from the water... you can go to Google maps, search a lake you're gonna fish, click on the layers at top right, choose "street view" and you'll see the blue line is in the water.. click anywhere on the blue line to look at that dock, that bank, that cove,etc.. They drove a camera boat around the whole lake... it's pretty awesome for research..

Does anybody know if we have the password to enter the October 18th tournament yet, so we can register?

Just wondering.. next tournament, or maybe next year, can we have a biggest SHOAL BASS category along with biggest Largemouth, Smallmouth, and Spotted bass categories... In middle Georgia we don't have the opportunity to fish for smallmouth... Just like guys north of us don't have the opportunity to fish for shoal bass... just wondering...

Well.... I held on to 1st place in the biggest spotted bass category for 3 weeks, then a friend of mine knocked me into 2nd place the day before the Younder Classic ended.. I fished hard trying to win my spot back but just couldn't do it.. Guess it just wasn't my time.. so ended up in 2nd place, and 17th in the 5 biggest category. .. looks like I'll definitely be going to the championship next year..!! The last one, was the best weekend I've had in decades..!

On a happier note, I ran into another SUF student on the water yesterday...our friend Matthew Dennis..!!

Brian.... Thanks for giving me some confidence to try throwing a jig again.. Before today, I've only caught 1 bass on a jig... I watched your video on jigs, put it into play on the Ocmulgee river today and slayed a few Shoal bass, and spotted bass...... !!
