Went to Ocmulgee River, Majorie Khan Popper boatramp, with a good friend yesterday, caught 7 shoal bass fun fishing.... River was up, current was strong... pulling the kayaks up thru the shoals a good ways then cruising back down thru them was definitely sketchy... a lot of praying goes on hopeing to not flip and lose all out gear.. Wore slap out this morning, not as young as I once was.!! But great fun when it's done..

Don't feel bad.. Same lake, same day. . I did a LOT worse than you... 2 snapped my 17lb leader line by wrapping around submerged timber, back to back.. and they were big one.. I know cause one jumped before it pulled drag and went down and wrapped.. lost 2 more at the side of the kayak, and didn't get another bite till 1:30.... for just one 16.75" keeper for the day.. and yeah, Hot AF us putting it lightly.. blue bird sky's and no wind pretty much.. I was so bummed, I skipped the awards afterwards.... live and learn, like you say....

Destiny Siguenza I posted the link.. he also has some great podcasts, with awesome guests...

So, I have a pretty big/Important tournament tomorrow on Lake Russell... I'm in 2nd place, was in 1st, in the AOY points with SEGKBF ....and need to get my lead back ..GA & SC Bass Nation, and SEGKBF (South East Georgia kayak bass fishing) , 3 clubs, are fishing there tomorrow...

What would be your 5 "go-to" baits for this time of year on lake Russell right now...? (It's a kayak tournament, I don't use ffs....granted, I would if I could afford it, but cant..lol)

I know topwater to start off with.. frog, buzzbait, ... a wacky, fluke, spinnerbait (?) , chatterbait (?) Texas worm, Carolina rig (with what bait on it?) And maybe a black n blue jig...(?)

Learning from SUF, and then putting that knowledge to work, and time on the water is the best combo out there.. I say, enter as many tournaments as you can cause you never know, it could be your time to win one.. or to place anyway.. especially if your already there... if nothing else, you get the experience..! I won one, without ffs, against 12 guys that have it, which really was a surprise to me.. but it was my home lake that I've put in a lot of time on.... hence, time on the water pays off.. congratulations on your great day of fishing... tournament or not..!
