I am curious what anyone else would do in my situation today. I fished in the river near my house tonight roughly 2-300 yard stretch with tons of laydowns and docks. They were biting very well in about 40 minutes I caught these 5 largemouth. I went down a little further maybe another 200 yards and caught 0. All caught on a spinnerbait never even tried another bait. Would you go back to where I started and try a different bait? Or another color? Or just keep going to find another productive area? Maybe go slower and use multiple baits every few cast? I attached a screenshot of where I was showing red arrow of water flow and yellow the shoreline I fished.

I ordered the bait pop scents and they were delivered today. So, I had to go try them out. I caught the normal amount of fish that I’d expect to catch, but they just about swallowed the whole spinnerbait. Last year this time, I also had a large bass on and it came off next to the boat, been trying to fish this same dock since and haven’t gotten a bite on the dock in a year. Went there today and as soon as I started reeling a 4lb 10oz hit it and just about swallowed the whole thing. Next time I’m going to take pictures of them choking it. I’ve never used scent before just thought it was a gimmick to get us to buy something. Day one test for me, great!

Caught my personal best largemouth this morning on black and blue chatterbait. It was under a lone dock for a long way and the dock was surrounded by pads and grass. 6lb 2oz.

I fished a long stretch of water today and there were only two docks that were sticking out into the deeper water around 8’ deep. The rest of the docks were small and only got to 3-4’ of water on outside posts. I took my time and picked the water apart about an hour and a half total in 200 yards. I fished the grass between the docks and caught a few 1-2lb. I dropped a wacky rig to the outside posts on both deeper water docks and caught a largemouth on both. The docks were holding a 2-3/4 and 5-1/2lb bass. Like advised many times in videos and lessons here, staying off the trolling motor I believe is a huge factor. That’s one my goals for the rest of the season to work on boat control and setting up to drift to my target area.

In the past 7-10 days I’ve fished in the local rivers. I’ve mostly been catching them between the grass and the shore on multiple baits. I have caught a couple In the openings in the grass, but seems most are looking towards shore. Normally I would’ve fished the edge of this grass out deeper quickly or skipped by, but now I slow down and pretty much stop at these spots where I see a noticeable separation between shore and the thick grass, and it’s been paying off. Tips I’ve learned here like staying off the trolling motor I beleive also helps a lot.

I just joined this last week and have been watching a lot of videos. I usually avoid weeds and I’m not sure why after watching videos on here. Today I watched the one about fishing in weeds and finding the differences like open holes or edges. So naturally it made me want to go fishing. I targeted only weeds and in 45 minutes caught 5. Thanks to everyone for posting their stories and helpful tips.
