Nothing like spending time on the farm and catching slabs out the small pond!

Managed to at least get a couple today on Lanier…. High pressure with the beautiful day

Good weather, no wind and some successful icefishing with my cousin. I'll call that a win!

There’s one area of a lake I frequent where I learned to not throw baits that make contact with the bottom. I didn’t know what was there, but through trial and error I knew I’d get hung or loose a lure if I threw a Texas rig over there. I assumed it was a gnarly stump or something, but today I finally got some answers 😂 this side scan thing is truly a gift!

I got out today at Lake Anna in central Virginia with the forecast sunny and 50 degree air temperature. Ramp still had ice but a lane was opened from launch to the open water near by. We targeted two areas. An island with a shallow shelf and a deep drop off point. Then several points from two coves that had steep drop off channels. Upon arrival, we observed the seagulls diving after the bait. We thought we were in!
For the next two hours, we threw everything at the bait fish but no bites from bass or stripers. The seagulls continued and we could see the bait in their mouths. We threw lipless, crankbaits, spinnerbaits, wake baits, chatterbaits, Alabama rigs, scrounger, underspins and swim baits. No bites in the 39 degree water. Still glad I got out and was on the water. 😀

I couldn't let Ricky Taylor have all the fun. So I had to spruce up the ol' Outlaw too. Added some decals and a Garmin Striker Vivid 7SV.... Gonna take her out tomorrow and get familiarized with everything. All I can say is it's amazing what you can do with a rod sock. I have some other ideas in mind as well, like adding some split corrugated tubing around the anchor wizard rope to help prevent hook snags. Also I'm pretty sure the big fish usa is not going to stay. So I'll be ordering the smaller size to replace it.
