Found A few of the best largemouth I’ve caught at my home lake on Sunday. SMH head with a powerbait 4 inch chigger craw. I did some experimentation by putting on a shaky head worm…. fished the same areas with one pole picked up the other with the craw on the SMH head and caught bass. Don’t know if it was color or action or smell… crawl works and worm hasn’t both using the same 3/16 ounce SMH head.

Had a club tournment on Sunday on one of the hardest lakes in WI, Lake Wisconsin. Everyone hates this lake on the schedule. Ive also never been happier to land 1 fish in a tournment. It was a 3lber to boot. I’m not sure what makes this lake so tuff other than the fish just don’t bite. Out of 11 boats that showed up that day, only 2 boats had a 3 bag limit. The rest only had 1-2 bass. At the same time I don’t like fishing this lake, I feel determined to break it and crack the code.

Well.... Lost the biggest Bass I've ever seen this morning. I know we all have lost fish stories, I need to get this one off my chest before my wife kicks me out of the house for constantly telling her how bummed I am. Flipped into a hole in the Lily pads about foot behind the pad line, the wind had just turned in and this was the first bank to get hit by it. Didn't feel the bite at all, was popping the lure off the ground and initially thought I was snagged, gave it a big pop to break it out of a pad stem when it started swimming into open water, leaned back on it and immediately my reel started peeling drag ( I lock my baitcasters down and use my thumb to give drag normally) kept pressure on it watched it jump in front of my kayak, it was the thickest and longest bass I have ever seen! Kept fighting it, it kept swimming and pulling drag, jumped a couple more times (my heart stopped every time it breached the surface.) I tried to stay cool and adjust my rod angle as it was swimming behind me, as I swung my rod from right to left the fish changed direction and the rod went completely straight for less then a second. Unfortunately that was long enough to shake the hook. I just sat there for 15 minutes with my hands on my head. I have caught a few just under 8 pounds and this fish made those look and feel small. On a positive note my knots and held strong, rod and reel were doing their jobs. Complete user error was the cause for losing it.

Just landed FINALLY! I got 3 so far and am ordering a dozen or so. They take a while to get here but worth the wait I think. Freshly primed. I couldn’t wait! Tail is plastic instead of bristle but other than that I think it’s what everyone wants. Mack Toon text me so we can talk patterns.

Got Barde and company finished and am sending tomorrow. Figured out the bluegill I think. Really happy with them. On to the blueback next to master. I hope and pray everyone is well and good. TWRA released a ton of bass in the lake and there were large schools of small bass. Didn’t know that they were just released but I spent much of the morning chasing a limit. Looking back I would make better use of the time. However, I did get a small limit before finding this big girl in some trees. Successful tournament because I was able to adapt from what I started doing and found out what I needed to be doing. It was extremely hot but I was pumped for three of the anglers in the club all passed the 67” threshold for best 3. One guy even passed 70”!

Hello everyone. I haven’t been here much lately sorry fam. I have been working and when I’m not I’m in the booth. I have a question for everyone how often do you see split rings fail/ break? I have never seen it yet and was wondering how or why that they could. I read about it but have not had it happen to me. I’m learning a lot more about each component that makes up these baits lures that we use and create. Bryan Key got me started on making crankbaits out of cedar. From a older bait he used to fish but are hard to find today. Which is really cool I can’t wait to get some of those pictures up to share. Any information is appreciated about rings or any other terminal parts we use. Finishing up Barde and Devon’s baits today and tomorrow hopefully so I can get them to them before the 24th.
