I spent the last two days practicing on Lake Lewisville for a tournament on the 16th. This was my first time on this lake and I learned so much including thoughts on how to better approach my home lake. Tournament fishing/prep ( and this app) have helped me better understand this great sport!
I didnāt catch a Barde bass, but I did break the ice and finally weighed one in.
The wind blew ALL day this little vid is a poor reflection of how rough it was.
For 2 days we chased points that were exposed to wind. You can hear it clearly in the video! THE MORE WIND THE BETTER. We didnāt run from the wind but used it to help us catch fish. Our 2 productive lures both days were a jerkbait and a small finesse swimbait. Our best points seemed to be closer to the main lake. We caught fish on both flat points and steep points. The key was hitting as many as possible. Sometimes we would go hours without a bite then all of a sudden hit 2 -4 fish in a row.
All loaded up. Ready to hit lake Santa Fe or Orange Lake in the morning. Iāll let you guys know how I do.
I am getting excited. I spent most of today rigging up my new Falcon F215 bass boat. It is getting ready for debut at the retreat and Championship! I will tell you that the Falcon F215 is spacious, built to last, and wired outstandingly with labels throughout the boat! I love the layout, with plenty of storage and a solid platform. Power Setup: Suzuki 250 SS, Lowrance Ghost with 3x 12V 100AH lithium batteries, Electronics: Dedicated 100AH lithium battery for Lowrance graphs and ActiveTarget, I Added: Blue Seas e-Series Dual Circuit Plus⢠Battery Switch for emergency battery combining, essentially a jumper cable with the turn of a knob. I hope to never use it! Power for days...
I've been elbow deep in fiberglass getting everything rigged just right. The attention to detail in these Falcons is impressive!
I lookĀ forward to seeing some of you at the retreat and getting my boat in the water!
Tom was on fire this week slow rolling a 3ā swimbait on main lake points.
Tom was the right person for the SUF trip. Fishing was actually a little tougher than I expected. This was a classic example of bass nkt reacting to weather the way we do. Itās been low key hot. The water is in mid 50s. The daffodils are flowering and the dogwoods look Snow White. However the bass have not yet received the letter about spring. We had to actually slow down and crawl swimbait today. CRAAAAWWWWLLLL! We stayed mostly on main lake points fishing 10-20ft. The moral of this king post is remember the bass live in a insulated environment. Everything is delayed for them. They do not react at the same time or the same way that humans do to weather changes.
Working the pointsā¦. Following Brianās persistence. Wind picked up and swim bait produced. Lake Lanier has been playing tough today
